언어가 발달된 이래,과거부터 현재까지 대부분의 사람들은 지식과 정보의 교류의 방법으로써 책이라는 것을 사용해 왔다. 물론 지금 이 시대에는 많은 다른 매체들(인터넷,방송,신문)이 정보와 지식의 교류의 창으로 이용되고 있지만 아직도 언어만을 기반으로하는 책에 관한 관심은 항상 끊이지 않았다. 과거로부터 책은 지식의 상징이었고, 언어를 통해 동,서양을 망론하고 사람들이 소통을 하는 창으로써 없어서는 안될 매체로 상징되고 있다.

Text Book Porject는 한 장의 이미지를 통해 한 권의 책 전체의 정보를 보여주는 작업으로서 ,책이라는 매체가 보여주는 정보처럼 인간의 지식이 얼마나 방대하고 깊은지를 보여주는 작업이다. 책의 한 장 한 장을 다중 노출을통해 한 장의 필름을 통해 기록하므로써 책이라는 이미지는 사라지고 그 속에 있는 정보만이 사진을 통해 표출되도록 노력을 하였다. 또한, 대부분의 책이 기본적으로 종이 위에 검은색 잉크로 인쇄되있는 것에 착안을 하여 흑백작업을 통해 작업이 가지는 이미지 자체로만으로도 책이라는 것을 느낄수 있는 것과 책을 통해 인간, 지식, 그리고 언어와의 소통이 새로운 개념적인 측면에서의 시도를 했다.
