Sound Hold is the name taken by a quartet of artists who have worked and exhibited together in Korea for twelve years. One is a photographer, two are painters and the fourth works in mixed media. Sound Hold can be taken, inter alia, to mean 'sure grasp.' Both words are associated with gravity and depth; with the tangible and permanent, rather than the schematic and ephemeral.
Art is a unique way of accessing new experience, and undiscovered truths, through an expanding consciousness. The aim, as ever, is to invent new structures of expression, and inspire curiosity about the world. It is also, as it has always been, a supremely difficult quest with a mysterious end in view. But perhaps it has never been more relevant or useful than it is today.
