CICA Museum invites artists to submit instruction-based works for consideration for the exhibition at CICA Museum in April and May, 2016. Each work will be exhibited for 1-2 weeks. We are open to instruction-based art, process art, and game art, utilizing A4 paper and a printer.
About A4 O2O Project:
Instruction-based art can be traced back to Conceptual Art in the 1960s, including Yoko Ono’s instruction paintings, Alan Kaprow’s happening scores, and Sol Lewitt’s wall drawings. Now, in our digital age, instructions have become the fundamental structures of our systems: a chain of commands is instantly produced, and it becomes visible, tactile, and ubiquitous. We aim to be an “O2O (Online to Offline) system” that can produce “instructions” as art and make them come alive in our online and offline spaces.
* Schedule:
March 23, 2016 10:00 pm (UTC -05:00, Eastern time) – Submission Deadline
April – May, 2016 – Expected exhibition dates. Each work will be exhibited for 1-2 weeks. The exhibition schedule will be sent to the selected artists.
* Materials:
A4 papers, a printer, and a stapler (to post papers on the walls). Additional fees may apply if you would like to use other materials or extra labor are required for the work. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this.
* How to submit:
– Please email your instruction-based art and bio to “cicamuseum.submission@gmail.com.”
— Format: a doc file (.doc or .docx)
— Length: 200-2000 words
— Images: 2-10 images (optional).
– Please write “Submission: A4 O2O Project – Artist Name” in the subject line of your email.
* Selection of Works
– The selected works will be installed by our curators & assistants.
– The photo and video (if necessary) documentation will be archived on the project website.
– If your work is selected, you will be required to pay a $50 maintenance & processing fee for each work.
* Copyright of materials
-The artist will retain copyright to the submitted materials. CICA Museum will not reproduce the materials for any other purpose(s) other than this show, without prior permission from the artist.
A4 O2O 프로젝트: 인스트럭션 기반 작품 모집
CICA 미술관에서 인스트럭션 기반 작품을 공모합니다. 선정된 작품은 2016년 4월에서 5월 사이 1-2주간 전시될 예정입니다. A4 종이와 프린터를 이용한 인스트럭션 기반 작업 (instruction-based art), 프로세스 아트, 또는 게임 아트를 모집합니다.
A4 O2O 프로젝트 소개:
1960년대 개념미술이래로 인스트럭션을 기반으로 작품을 하는 시도는 꾸준히 있어 왔습니다. 대표적인 예로 Yoko Ono의 Instruction Painting, Alan Kaprow의 Happening Scores, Sol Lewitt의 Wall Drawing 등이 있습니다. 한편 디지털 시대를 맞이하며 ‘인스트럭션,’ 즉 명령어 또는 지침서는 현대사회 시스템을 구축하는 중요한 근간이 되었습니다. ‘명령어’는 즉각적으로 생산되며, 실행되고, 존재하게 되며, 편재하게 됩니다. A4 O2O 프로젝트는 아티스트의 ‘지침서’를 기반으로 온라인과 오프라인에 존재하게 하는O2O (Online to Offline) 시스템을 구축하고자 합니다.

2016년 4월 – 5월 – 전시 예정. 각 작품은 1-2주간 전시되며 선정 작가에게 전시 스케줄을 보내드릴 예정입니다.

A4 종이, 프린터, 호치키스 (벽에 종이를 설치할 때 사용)을 이용한 작업을 모집합니다. 다른 재료를 사용하거나 설치시 많은 시간이 소요되는 작품의 경우 추가 요금이 발생할 수 있으며 이와 관련하여 문의사항이 있으시면 cicamuseum.submission@gmail.com으로 연락주시기 바랍니다.

-선정된 작품은 작가가 직접 설치하거나 CICA 미술관 큐레이터 및 어시스턴트가 설치합니다.
-작품은 사진과 (필요시) 동영상으로 기록되어 프로젝트 웹사이트 아카이브로 보존됩니다.
-선정된 작가는 5만원의 전시 진행 및 유지 비용을 지불하게 됩니다.
*자료의 이용 및 저작권
-작가가 제출한 자료의 저작권은 작가에게 있으며 CICA 미술관은 작가의 허락 없이 본 전시 외의 다른 용도로 사진을 사용하지 않습니다.
