표현적 공간으로 해석된 하늘미학

회화가 추구하는 조형적 공간은 원근법의 환영적 공간illusionary space에서 나아가, 조형물이 생성하는 실재적 공간을 포함하며 포괄적 의미로 해석된다. 회화가 캔버스의 틀에서 벗어나 공간으로 진입하는 시도는 20세기 초 부터 큐비즘과 다다이즘 등 의해 시도되어 지금까지 끊임없이 진행되어왔다. 회화에서 입체로, 공간적 예술로의 변화는, 미술이라는 범위를 넘어서 예술로 지칭하는 현재에 이르렀다.
사회적 환경 변화와 기술의 발달에 따라 다른 분야와 마찬가지로 예술 분야 또한 분화되고 있으며, 이러한 분화들은 새로운 형태를 아우르는 융합convergence을 통해 예술의 영역을 확장해나가고 있다. 변화된 시대적 흐름 속에서, 이번 개인전에서는 조형적 공간을 포괄적 의미로 접근하였으며, 공간에 대한 새로운 해석을 통해 그동안의 작업을 발전시켰다. 개인전 전시 기간 중에만 형성되는 새로운 공간은 실존적 건축 공간의 창조에 대해 논의한 노베르그 슐츠(Norberg Schulz, 1971)의 표현적 공간Expressive Space을 기반으로 접근하였다.
이번 개인전의 제목은
이며, Sky Aesthetics를 공간적 개념으로 해석한 작품들이다. 설치물, 음악, 회화적 영상이 구현하는 건축적 공간에서 관객이 열려져있는 설치물 사이로 통과하며 소통하는 상호작용적 공간을 구현하는 작업이다. 이 작업은 아날로그적 환경과 디지털적 환경이 공존하는 공간으로 구성되어 있다. 회화적 영상은 아날로그적 회화 작업이 컴퓨터 그래픽 프로그램을 통해 움직이는 영상으로 변화된 것이다. 또한 전시 공간에 울리는 음악은 연주자가 관객 앞에서 연주하는 아날로그적 음악을 컴퓨터를 통해 영상물과 연동시킴으로서 조형적 공간의 구성물이 된 것이다. 설치물들 사이에 투사되는 회화적 영상과 음악은 하늘미학의 새로운 표현적 공간을 건축한다.
은 인간이 시각적으로 접하는 하늘이미지를 자연의 흔적과 함께 미학적 측면에서 표현한 작품들이다. 공간성spatiality과 시간성temporality을 내포하고 있는 하늘과 자연은 인간의 삶속에서 필연적 관계 속에서 존립하는 대자연이다. 이러한 대자연에 접근하는 방식을 통해 관람자와 공유하고자 전시장 전체를 표현적 공간Expressive Space으로 창조하였다. 회화적 영상은 전통악기인 가야금의 연주음악과 함께 설치된 천들 사이로 스며들어, 하늘미학의 공간을 창출한다. 전시공간으로 들어온 관람자는 영상 속의 공간과 전시 공간의 설치물 사이에서 공간적 관계spatial relation에 놓이게 된다. 과거, 현재 그리고 미래가 하나의 선상에서 연결되는 시간성temporality과 실제 공간적 관계 속에서 대자연과 상호 커뮤니케이션intercommunication하게 되어 하늘미학을 온몸으로 공감하게 될 것이다.

The formative space, interpreted as comprehensive meaning, includes not only illusionary space in perspective and also real space that is formed by sculptures. Departing from standard patterns, instead of using canvas, paintings constantly have been trying to approach space since early 20th century. It is shown by Cubism and Dadaism. Change in paintings to object and space art leaded art to arts.
As changes in social environment and technical development, the field of arts also has been specializing. This specialization have expanded the areas of arts through convergence. In the trend of changed age, I try to approach formative space in comprehensive meaning and developed the artworks by new interpretation of space.
The new space which is existed only during the exhibition is based on Expressive Space by Norberg Schulz(1971) who argued existential architecture space.
The title of this exhibition is 'Sky Aesthetics_Space'. The artworks sincerely express Sky Aesthetics as spatial concept. There are installation, music and pictorial images in architectural installation space which consists of interactive space that viewer passes through structures. This work constructs from the space of analog environment and digital environment together. Pictorial images are a conversion of analog painting to motion pictures using computer graphic program. Also, the music in the space is a conversion of analog music that musician performs in concert. It was converted with pictorial images by computer, and compose the space. Pictorial images projecting into installations and music build new expressive space of Sky Aesthetics.
'Sky Aesthetics' expresses the visual image of sky that human encounters with traces of nature in aesthetic point of view. Sky and nature which connote spatiality and temporality are the great nature. It exists as necessary relation of human being in life. I created expressive space for viewers to approach the great nature and share. Pictorial images infuse Korean instrument, Gayageum sound and fabric installation. And they create space of Sky Aesthetics. Viewers who enter expressive space are placed in spatial relation between structures and installation. Temporality means ultimate time that the past, the present and the future are in one line. Viewers can intercommunicate with great nature in temporality and spatial relation, and it will lead them to experience 'Sky Aesthetics' in the air.
