½ÉÀºÁ¤ EunJung Sim
EunJung Sim is an artist working primarily in the areas of performance and video.
¡°I visualize certain aspects of our daily life that has been displaced by desolate anonymity and insensitive moments occurring in modern society. I want to focus on revealing the hidden or forgotten aspects or essence in the social community, which cause the lack of communication or human interaction, in a broader sense. Therefore I combine personal themes to social situations and put both in interrelation to public relevance.
In modern society of capitalism, we all feel being reduced to a small meaningless part and abandoned. We also have lost the bond to our own historical origin. Since we do not care of our individual values and its integrity, we struggle to keep the basic stance and get isolated. Me being an artist and a female, I tried to address and point out the disinterest of self-awareness, critical view on meritocracy and irresponsibility towards the younger generations.¡± – From EunJung, Sim ¡®s Artist Note –
