원서동에 위치한 그리고(GRIGO) 갤러리에서는 6월 5일부터 6월 25일까지 주목할 만한 신인 작가 두 명의 사진전을 개최한다.
서 지원, 박 병규 두 작가는 이미지와 설치로 내러티브를 만들어 가는 젊은 작가이다.
두 작가는 작가의 잠재된 자아, 잊혀지지 않는 기억, 자기 밖에 존재하는 자아에 대한 내러티브를 작가의 내면이 투영된 대상을 통해서 이야기 하고 있다.
마치 거울을 바라보고 독백을 하는 배우처럼 그들의 작업은 타인의 기억 속에, 혹은 지극히 사적이고 일상적인 오브제에 자신을 각인시킨다.
박 병규 작가의 독특한 흑백사진작업 는 빗방울을 스캔하고 그 위에 유리를 덧대었을 때 발생되는 반사율을 조합하여 새로운 흑경(黑鏡)으로 나타낸다. 자아를 타인을 통해 상징화 시킨 작업인 서 지원 작가의 <시선의 Facade>는 3,40대 일하는 여성의 불안, 외로움, 소외감등 심리적 감정을 표현한 포트레이트 작업이다.
생의 고통은 자신을 들여다 보는 거울을 보지 않는 것이 불가능 하다는 것이다. 서지원, 박 병규두 작가의 치열하고도 작가적 사유가 넘쳐 나는 이번 작업을 통해 여러분에게도 자신과 대면 하게 되는 기회를 갖게 되길 바란다.

Jiwon Seo and Byunggyu Park’s Duet Photography Exhibition

Located in Wonseodong, the Grigo Gallery proudly presents a photography exhibition from June 5th to 25th featuring two notable newly emerging photographers. Jiwon Seo and Byunggyu Park are young artists who create narrative through images and installation.
Through the reflected narrative on subjects, the two artists portray subconscious identity, unforgettable memories, and externally shaped self-identity. Like actors who immerse themselves in a monologue using a mirror, the artists aptly convey their identity on the artworks that utilize other people’s memories or a commonplace object.
Byunggyu Park’s eccentric, black-and-white uses scanning of raindrops and overlaid glass to make a reflection that creates a new black ore. Jiwon Seo’s ’s Façade> shows portraiture of working women in their 30s and 40s; symbolizing the self-identity created by the others, the photographs portray the subjects’ psychological emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, and isolation.
The agony of life is that one cannot avoid looking into the mirror. Through the works of Jiwon Seo and Byungyu Park that are intense yet philosophical, we hope that the viewers can also encounter their own self-identity.
