The unique beauty of white snowy margin, the work of Leszek Skurski has returned to Korea once again since his solo exhibition, ¡®Stranger than Paradise¡¯, in 2015 at GalleryJJ. He is originally from Poland but currently resides in Germany and active in Europe art scene. He was awarded the Kunstpreis (Art Prize) from the Polish Ministry of Culture and Arts in 1995. Since then, he has established his own artistic position through several exhibitions at the world¡¯s leading art institutions around the globe and has been recognized for the high quality of work. He contemplates the moments of life with an unfamiliar perspective. With a concise depiction in black and white monochrome, he illustrates everyday scenes from our daily life as a summarized and temperate image. It is a story about instantly captured moments and various stories about life - things that cannot be seen but can be felt. They are sometimes cheerful, romantic or satirical, and ultimately, the artist wants to listen, sympathize and share with the various stories of various people through his works.

Skurski¡¯s new series of work in this exhibition includes paintings with some use of color, and portrayals of a more social urban scape such as pubs and shops, rather than natural scenes. 'Epiphany', the exhibition title, is one of the names of the paintings. It has an expansive meaning that the truth can suddenly be revealed through an ordinary event, and thereby one can draw the whole picture. His work is ostensibly concise, but his idea and sentiment about the world around us are intricately embedded – happy, lonely, and frail appearances of the human being every now and then. The unknown world suddenly can open between moment and halt, appearance and disappearance, and silence.
